You can’t switch the telly on these days without a bingo site sponsoring one show or another.
Online bingo sites are competing with each other to claim sponsorship of some of the top TV shows around, and ITV seems to be their main target.
Emmerdale is one of the top shows on ITV and for a year now they’ve been sponsored by Tombola, but this week that all changed and it was Bet365 Bingo who appeared on our screens before the famous soap.
Not that it makes much difference to the viewer, but to these sites they clearly put great importance on the level of TV coverage their brand gets. It would be interesting to see if the change in sponsorship had any effect on each of these sites in the near future.
Would Tombola experience a loss in players and Bet365 Bingo a gain? You would expect so, but perhaps TV advertising isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
A recent survey showed that while TV advertising is good for raising brand awareness and trust, it is online advertising that is more rewarding in terms of generating new players.
This makes sense as it only takes one click and you are there, whereas when watching the TV you have to then go and turn your computer on and remember the name of the website you just saw.
