Lumba pleaded guilty to executing work or alternations to the Grade II listed building, after destroying the historic floor of the bingo hall.

The case was held at Croydon Crown Court in April after the case was moved from Kingston due to animosity in the area. Lumba only changed to plea to guilt just days before the trial.

Prosecutor Richard Heller had this to say about the case,

“The entire floor had been reduced to rubble. The brick walls were noticeable in excess of one metre. The floor was an intrinsic part of the building. Even if restoration is achieved, because the floor has gone, the historical material from which it would be built would not be available anymore.”

Lumba has been declared bankrupt after a bankruptcy petition was launched by Abbeyview Services, a Hertfordshire based firm who Lumba owned money for work completed.

5.6 million pound property portfolio

Mr Lumba currently has $5.6 million pound tied up in properties all across London, a number of bank accounts, a compamy in Spain as well as a motor yacht.

Cleared of fraud offenses

Franco Lumba was also cleared of fraud offences earlier this in year in a trial that couldn’t be reported until after he faced the charges relating to the destruction of the historic bingo hall floor.

Lumba, of St Margarets Road Twickenham, denied 11 charges including defrauding the taxman, concealing a conviction and money laundering.
